    GT2006-90165 GROUND TEST DATA VALIDATION USING A SUBSCALE F/A-22 ENGINE INLET EMPIRICAL MODEL

    ABSTRACT The US Air Force's two main aeropropulsion test centers, Arnold Engineering Development Center and the Air Force Flight Test Center, are developing a common suite of modeling and simulation tools employing advanced predictive modeling technologies. These modeling and simulation tools incorporate real-time data validation, system identification, parameter estimation, model calibration, and automated model updating as new test results or operational data become available. The expected benefit is improved efficiency and accuracy for online diagnostic monitoring of Air Force assets. This paper describes the integrated approach to real-time data validation. Implementation of a software package to enable efficient model handoff between test groups and centers and extension of the capability to aeropropulsion models is discussed. An F/A-22 inlet model is used to demonstrate the approach. Compact polynomial function models of the distortion and recovery flow descriptors and 40-probe pressure values are derived from quasisteady and instantaneous subscale wind tunnel data. The total-pressure inlet distortion and recovery models are integrated in a real-time equipment health monitoring system designed to support test operations, and preliminary results are given.     A 'Performative' Social Movement: The Emergence of Collective Contentions within Collaborative Governance

    The enmeshment of urban movements in networks of collaborative governance has been characterised as a process of co-option in which previously disruptive contentions are absorbed by regimes and reproduced in ways that do not threaten the stability of power relations. Applying a theoretical framework drawn from feminist philosopher Judith Butler this paper directs attention to the development of collective oppositional identities that remain embedded in conventional political processes. In a case study of the English tenants' movement, it investigates the potential of regulatory discourses that draw on market theories of performative voice to offer the collectivising narratives and belief in change that can generate the emotional identification of a social movement. The paper originates the concept of the ‘performative social movement’ to denote the contentious claims that continue to emerge from urban movements that otherwise appear quiescent

    Age, growth, mortality, and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in roughtongue bass (Pronotogrammus martinicensis) were examined in the northern Gulf of Mexico following the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill. Fish (N = 1090) were collected from September 2014 to July 2015 from the Alabama Alps (54 km from the spill site) and Roughtongue Reef (111 km from the spill site). Sites were dominated by the 2010 year-class. Growth rates were significantly lower for fish from Alabama Alps compared to Roughtongue Reef (p < 0.001) and likely linked to proximity of the Mississippi River discharge. Mean total PAH ± SD was 50 ± 52.6 and ranged from 0 to 220 ppb. These PAH levels were below a 300-ppb minimum effect level and not significantly different between sites. The dominant 2010 year-class, low PAH levels, and similar growth rates to pre-spill measures indicated that the Deepwater Horizon oil spill had little effect on roughtongue bass
